P.S. I ran a marathon today. It started in the middle of a field in Arkansas and ended in small town Greenville, Mississippi.
Since I'm posting from my phone, I'll wait to give you the deets later.
In short, I am slowly becoming the queen of just barely missing my Boston qualifying time. I wish I was making this stuff up. My final time today was 3:40:12. Really.
On the brighter side, I won 2nd place in my age group. That's my first time ever placing in my age group in a marathon and my first ever running plaque. I think my husband will want me to hang that above our bed or right by the front door so he can stare at it all the time.
And my family was there to cheer me on, which meant so much to me. It's been a while since they've made it to a race, and it made me so happy to see them there.
Last, I never stopped running. So there was none of that if-only-I-hadn't-walked-through-that-water-stop business. I honestly felt amazing during this whole race, but even though the course was flat, the wind was kicking. Somehow my Garmin read 26.59 when I was finished. It was off from the first mile, but I know that doesn't matter in the context of qualifying for Boston. It sort of made me feel better though.
Here I am crossing the Mississippi River. The bridge was gorgeous!
